Summer's Eve

select as fave0 0 10:06 pm, June 2, 2008 EDT PetoskeyMy life lives here.

It feels so much like summer now.  I have the door to my balcony wide open and i'm just slightly damp across my chest.  I'm gearing up for a run in a bit, trying to harvest my energy to get about 10 miles in.  It's a bit late and i'm trying to get my laundry done at the same time, it's been a quiet night, but nice.

I ran the bolder boulder last Monday, Memorial Day, and finally attacked Lookout Mountain Drive the Saturday before.  I bought a camel back and a running outfit just before going up there on Saturday and had an amazing run 6 miles up and 6 miles down.  I took Sunday off which lead to my best 10K.  39.26 I think my time was.  It would have been quite a bit better had the course not been 6 miles of people dodging, but it's quite possible that it helped keep me faster... regardless, I felt like Hermes.

This past weekend I caught Iron Man on Friday then hit REI on Saturday morning with Beth.  About $500 later I was geared up and so was she, so we trekked up to Golden Gate Canyon State Park for the night.  It was so exciting to finally be backpacking on my own accord... especially with such amazing company.  We met a few friends up top and played frisbee before downing some couscous and turning in for the night.  The night taught us both a few things about equipment that should be deemed necessary, we figured this would be our dry run... I believe it served it's purpose.  Buy a mat, lesson learned.

So now it's back to work after a brilliant Sunday with weather to match.  I'm as happy and content as ever, and truly happy to be where I am with who I'm with.  I just signed up for a half-marathon for Sunday in downtown Denver.  It was expensive, but I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to run without worrying about traffic and people.

I love it here.  I like what I do.  And I love who I'm with.  I place a life marker right here to remember how I felt this day in Denver.  You had it pretty good at one point of your life Seth.  You couldn't imagine feeling otherwise.
