May 5-7 - Feria de Abril and Barça parade

select as fave0 0 7:55 am, May 15, 2006 EDT BarcelonaSemester in Barcelona

This was your typical fair.. if you don´t count the flamenco dancing that was going on all over.  There were countless tents representing different clubs and regions in southern Spain that live in BCN.  I hadn´t been to a fair in a few years so it was fun to walk around and check things out.  The BBQ smelled amazing and they were cooking EVERYthing!  They were still going strong at 2am when we left.  Before we left we had to stop into one of the tents and get some beer and tapas and watch some flamenco. Oh the cotton candy was rediculously huge, as you can see in my pics!

Then at the end of the weekend, I stumbled upon a celebration parade for FC Barcelona soccer team.  Earlier in the week they had won the Spanish League, La Liga, and they also advanced to the final game of the European Champions league.  The fans here are crazy, they gather to celebrate after the big games and light off flares and fireworks, chanting and making rediculous noise until the early morning hours.  At the parade people were running with the bus and a huge stream of motos was following as well.  When they won the league, apart from the 24,000 fans in Plaça Catalunya, 4,000 waited for the team at the airport and the staduim as they returned. Nuts
